Say why, and say when
“Pool closed” on its own invites people to climb the fence or call the office. A reason (maintenance, weather, a chemical issue, the end of the season) and a reopening time answer the two questions everyone has. If you don’t know the date yet, leave the line blank and fill it in with a marker.
For weather, keep a few printed copies in the pool office so whoever closes the gate can post one in a minute.
Printing it
Letter and Tabloid print on any office printer; laminate them or slip them into a clear sign holder for outdoor use. For a fence or gate, order the 18 × 24 in or 24 × 36 in size from a print shop on coroplast or aluminum composite — the PDF is vector, so it stays sharp at any size. Rules signs are usually posted at 18 × 24 in.
