What a staffed-pool sign does

People behave differently when they know someone is on duty. A sign at the gate that says the pool is staffed sets expectations before the first conversation: guests expect to be asked who they’re with, and residents expect the rules to be enforced evenly. It also backs up your attendant when they ask someone to check in.

If you don’t have an attendant yet, see what a pool attendant does — or keep the wording to “All residents and guests must check in” and use the check-in sign instead.

Printing it

Letter and Tabloid print on any office printer; laminate them or slip them into a clear sign holder for outdoor use. For a fence or gate, order the 18 × 24 in or 24 × 36 in size from a print shop on coroplast or aluminum composite — the PDF is vector, so it stays sharp at any size. Rules signs are usually posted at 18 × 24 in.

A note on required signs

House signs like this one don’t replace the signs your state or county health code requires. Some codes set exact wording and minimum letter heights (several inches for certain warnings), so check your local pool code — or ask your pool management company — before you rely on a printed sign.

Questions

Staffed pool sign FAQ

Is a pool attendant the same as a lifeguard?
No. A lifeguard is a certified rescuer watching the water. A pool attendant manages the deck: check-ins, guest limits, rules and incident reports. If your pool has attendants but no lifeguard, many codes still require a “no lifeguard on duty” sign — see the free no-lifeguard sign.
Can I put my community name on it?
Yes. Type it in the community name field and it prints above the main message.

Signs set the rules. Attendants keep them.

The Pool Attendant Company staffs HOA and community pools with trained attendants who check people in, apply guest limits and log every incident.
